Eminent Environmental Scientist of International repute, Professor B.D. Tripathi of the Banaras Hindu University has won world wide acclaim through his remarkable and path breaking researches. His significant researches on Ganga Water Pollution were recognized by Indian Parliament and this was brought up as an important topic of discussion. Taking in account his research findings and their impact on social development he was honored with the prestigious position of an expert member of the prime minister's National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA).
He has, through his incessant efforts, succeeded in developing a number of new pollution control technologies which have proved vital for the conservation and protection of the river Ganga, and has founded a number of educational and research institutions in view of his laudable vision of spreading knowledge. It is, therefore, to commemorate his colossal and unparalleled contributions in these fields of social service and to immortalize his cherished teachings which may and will serve as a source of inspiration to the future generations that this trust has been founded.
